What are the requirements to adopt from DASH?
To adopt a rescue from DASH, you must:
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Be allowed to own a pet in your residence.
- Be committed for the animal’s full life.
- Complete the ENTIRE adoption application.
- Adopt an animal for which you will be the primary caretaker. We will not adopt pets as gifts to others.

Ensure that all other animals that you own are up to date on routine veterinary care, spayed/neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations per your veterinarian’s recommendation.
How long will it take to hear back about my application?
Once your application is complete AND you have submitted pictures of your home and yard, a DASH representative will contact you regarding the status of your application. DASH does not begin reviewing your application until your pictures are received. If you have used a veterinarian in the past, please be sure to include their information on the application. All communication regarding your application will be via email.
How much are your adoption fees?
Adoption fees vary based on the pet. Adoption fees help with vetting, medications, altering, food, toys, transport, leashes, collars, surgery, treatments, heartworm and flea preventatives, and so much more. Some animals are pulled from very full shelters from other states and are transported to DASH to find their forever home. Adoption fees are listed on each pet’s personal page on our website. Adoption fees cover only a portion of these services.
Will you hold an animal if I cannot adopt right away?
Typically we will not hold an animal under any circumstances. In special cases where adoption will be delayed, the adopter will be asked to pay a deposit on the animal.
Are DASH animals vetted?
Yes! All of our pets are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and are treated for any known ailments. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
Do you require a fence to adopt?
DASH does not always require a fence to adopt a dog. DASH may require physical fences for specific dogs or dog breeds.
Do you adopt out of state?
We will adopt out of state, but we are unable to transport dogs. Out of state adopters will be required to travel to the Ashville, Ohio area to pick up their new pet.
