Kayla is a smart, lovable,
mild mannered girl.
She is shy and cautious of new people at first, so she will need a patient adopter that will give her time to get use to her new home, smells & family. She seem to be ok around the Foster's neighborhood children ranging in age of 9-17,
not sure how she would do with younger kids, so we do not recommend a home with small children.
She is protective of her surrounding but not aggressive to her humans.
She was in the DASH prison training program,, so she does have some training, and knows some commands. She is housebroken, crate and leash trained. She enjoys going for walks but would love a fenced in yard to run, play and burn off her German Shepherd energy.
She is dog selective but may do ok with a patient and non-dominant dog in the home. She has not been cats tested in a home, but shows interest and pulls toward them when she is on a leash.
Kayla was used as a puppy mill Mama. She is very tolerant of the other foster puppies and is getting better with her Foster family's 6 year old dog every day. She does have some anxiety, but it is getting better with time. She needs an adopter who will be patient with help her overcome her anxiety.
She would likely do best in a home where there is someone home most of the time. It would also be beneficial for an adopter to meet her a couple of times prior to taking her home. We have not heard her bark, but she does growl and howl!
