Gunner is a special calm sweet boy that has had a rough few years and is waiting for his forever nap buddy. Napping is his professional hobby that he takes very seriously. Even though he can out nap any other dog around, he definitely enjoys going for walks and does well on the leash but, it’s not recommended for a child to walk him since he’s a big muscular boy. He is a STRONG dog. 47 lbs of pure muscle, but he is gentle.
Gunner isn’t very playful so other dogs and many toys are not much of interest to him other than chew toys. If Gunner has future fur siblings, they will need to be patient with him as he prefers his space. Once he is warmed up and comfortable in his environment, you will see him really open up and become a little playful. He occasionally chases cats until they put him in his place.
Even though Gunner has had his setbacks and has been delayed in basic learning commands, he gets better every day. He is crate trained, house trained, and knows how to sit and wait for his food. He is an extremely food motivated dog and will let you know when he is hungry. With that being said, he has a history of counter surfing but, in just a week at his current foster’s, he has stopped that habit and they make sure anything he might want to eat gets pushed back out of reach.
He does require medication for seizures and has been doing great on his meds that he takes without a fight as long as you have some treats with it. Two months of taking his medication, he has not had a single seizure!
Gunner needs his person he can love on and nap with for years to come. He is a sweet boy who loves belly rubs. Gunner is an ideal companion as he is lovable, gorgeous, and gets along with everyone.
