Meet Sammy!
My name is Sammy and I am a 5-month- old female hound mix. I weigh around 30 pounds and would love to snuggle up next to you on the couch. I can be pretty shy at first with new people but once I decide they are trustworthy and I am safe, I become more of myself, which is a playful, fun-loving, affectionate, and sometimes silly puppy. I am good with other dogs and I pay attention to my foster family’s cat but once he hissed at me and let me know he didn’t want me to bother him, I left him alone. I like to spend time playing with my fur siblings and with my toys. I also love to lay with my people on the couch and snuggle. I do bark sometimes when I am outside but not very often at all when I am inside unless I am playing with my friends or someone comes in the door. Then I get excited and bark with excitement. I have housebreaking down pretty well as long as I am let outside often enough. I am still not great at letting people know I need to go though, so regular potty times are a good idea. I think once I am in my forever home and have a regular routine I will be just fine. I am crate trained and leashed trained, although if I am afraid of where I am going I will resist a little bit. My foster mom says that with love and attention I have “come out of my shell”. I don’t know what that means. All I know is before I went to their house, I felt afraid a lot and felt safer if I stayed close to the ground and hid when I didn’t feel safe or if things got loud. Now I feel different. These people are nice. I feel safe here and I get lots of nice belly rubs, food, water, snuggles, praise, toys to play with. Belly rubs are my favorite. Here I can play and run and jump and snuggle and even make mistakes sometimes and not be afraid. I want to find a forever family like this. Will that be you?
