Meet Brodie Jax,

Brodie Jax has adapted and transitioned beautifully into my home with my 4 pack, 2 boys (age 6, brothers, Jindos) and 2 girls (age 2 & 1, pittie mixes). He is a big pile of love. He loves belly rubs, back scratches, affection, and attention (talking to him). He loves when you talk to him and he stomps his little feet when he gets excited and sometimes does a little huff/sneeze  He does not jump. He loves to give kisses and sit on your lap – yes he thinks he is a lap dog! He listens very well to commands and if he barks or is doing something you would prefer that he didn’t or would like him to stop, gentle but firm correction and redirection works great. He knows how to sit, lay down, leave it, come, off, and more. He has very much thrived in my home with other dog friends, a backyard, and comfy dog beds. He does have a crate and is crate trained, but I have not had to use the crate with him. He does extremely well in the car and enjoys car rides. I have brought him into a couple pet stores and does very well. He is 100% potty trained. He goes to the door when he needs to go potty (we have a bell and he will ring it). Brodie does bark – all dogs bark – I do not assess his barking as extreme or a lot but sometimes it does need to be redirected. If Brodie hears other dogs barking, he will bark and give his little howl – like “hey guys! I’m here too” (it’s so cute). Like my dogs, if the Amazon truck pulls up or they hear a car, they bark. What has worked well is saying no bark, firm but gently, then telling him to go lay down or come and then positive reinforcement.

In my opinion, Brodie was neglected in his previous home and VERY stressed and anxious. I do not believe he received much love or attention or the basic needs he should have such as ear cleaning, nail trimming, and so on. I believe he was crated or confined to a hallway most of his day. When I picked him up, there was barely anywhere for me as a two legged human to stand, let alone a 4 legged furry guy to move about! He was skinny, exhibited signs of stress and anxiety, a lot of dandruff and shedding, and ears were filthy, red, warm, and swollen, and muzzle was red and chapped from licking.

Since coming to my home, Brodie’s displays of anxiety and stress have completely resolved. He does not have dandruff or skin flecking and minimal (normal) shedding. He is not scratching, licking or chewing on himself, his ears have been cleaned and are no longer smelly, swollen, or red. Stress and anxiety can wreak havoc on a dog - and humans – and sometimes the impact of the stress, anxiety and environment can present as allergies or other issues. Only time, and regular vet checkups, will tell if he will need to remain on a restrictive diet and medication; for now, it is important to provide him with his limited ingredient food, specific treats, and medication to support his allergies.

Brodie Jax would thrive in a home with another dog – my 1 yr old (dog) is VERY high energy and she can be a lot for him but he is very patient, playful, and submissive with play bows. He has shown no signs of aggression towards other dogs or food. He has access to all the toys and has shown no signs of resource guarding. He would also do well in a family setting with children (previous owner had 3 cats and a 2 year old). If you do not have a fenced in backyard, Brodie would need to be walked 1-2x daily for short walks. He is not going to be your running partner but it is important he gets exercise to keep his back leg muscles strong and for his overall health and daily stimulation. Brodie is very much a laid back, go-with-the-flow loving boy that would love to live his best life for the rest of his life with you! Reach out to learn more about Brodie!
