Meet Sandy, She is ready for adoption, even though she would say no. Sandy came from a difficult past of a hoarding home so she still needs work with socialization skills. She gets very attached to her main person and is sweet and affectionate with that person. She is about 3-5 yrs old yorki-poodle mix that is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm test and prevention. Sandy is leash trained and crate trained. She has made vast improvement in her house training skills without having an accident in the house for over a week. Sandy gets along well with other dogs and cats, but gets protection of her person if she is on their lap and will growl when another dog approaches. Sandy is a very low shedder, would need minimal grooming and doesn't need much exercise. A fence would not be required. Sandy is cautious and timid with new people. Because of her past, she has trust issues until she knows someone well. She's an excellent traveler in the car and sits quietly on the seat. Her biggest obstacle is her separation anxiety when her main person has to be away. She is on anti-anxiety medication that is helping her and would need a forever home that is committed to continuing them for 2-4 months until she feels secure in a loving home. She's relatively quiet until she gets excited or is left alone. She's not happy with young children but would acclimate to older considerate teens. Her foster mom thinks her ideal forever home would be with a retired family that is home alot.  Sandy does tend to walk very close to her foster mom's feet, so she might not be a good fit for an elderly person who is physically unstable. * Foster to provide first month Anxiety meds for transition.
