Introducing Richard! This rambunctious guy looks like an Ewok! If you have ever seen Star Wars you'll know what I mean in one glance!  He was found as a stray and ended up at the shelter where he was full of fear & his only defense was to lash out. He wanted to act like a giant guard dog when we first met but once he got past that & knew he was safe, he changed into a different dog. He seems to have been spoiled at least once in his life, while riding in the car with me he thought it ok to perch on my shoulders or be on my lap barking at passers by, both were quickly corrected. He did seem somewhat protective when people approached the car but this will be monitored to see if it was a momentary lapse in his judgement or a character trait.  Li'l Richard is one of the newest additions to the DASH Prison Training Program where he is learning that he can trust people. He will be working on his manners, basic commands & practicing all the good boy things he needs to know. He does seem to be protective of his food & toys at times but he will work on that too. Richard walks on a leash, appears to be housebroken, tolerates his crate, baths, crowds, other dogs & likes people. He likes to play with his toys & growl a lot but does not bite or nip. He has not been cat or kid tested so proper introductions are a must.  He is becoming more relaxed & affectionate by the day! He may need a little extra decompression time when he joins your family but, it will be worth it.  Who wouldn't want a little Ewok in their life?
