Learn more about the Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie.
Meet Honey! Honey is a senior Yorkie who was dumped at a shelter due to having a tumor on one of her back legs and severe dental disease. Enter DASH where she has had her teeth taken care of and the tumor removed. She is a typical Yorkie who is very independent but still doesn't want her person being out of her sight for long. She is a senior, but still has some spunk and will play with a few toys but she doesn't really care about playing with the other dogs in her foster home. Mealtime is her favorite and she can be vocal while waiting her turn. With 13 of her teeth removed she does need to be on a soft food diet but has no trouble with that. She spends most of her days snuggled up on a comfy dog bed with a blanket or two sleeping. She does sleep in bed with her foster mom on a blanket but will sometimes get down to sleep on her dog bed because it can get crowded. She loves her little shirts and does well with bathtime and nail trims, but she is still learning to allow her foster mom to mess with her face so patient groomer is a must. Also, due to the tumor she had on her leg, she will cock her back leg from time to time, but it doesn't affect her walking or the little bit of running she does do. She would like a fenced in back yard so she can come and go as she pleases but it isn't required. Her foster mom hasn't had her out to walk on a leash, but she has done OK in a pet stroller and with some time she should do well on a leash. She just would prefer to be spoiled and pampered in her golden years! She is truly just a sweetheart with everyone. She has been kid tested and did great with her foster's young grandchildren (under 7), but they would need to be respectful of her small size. She has not been cat tested.
